Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Iraqi army confirmed that two explosions occurred at the Martyr Majid Al-Tamimi Air Base (formerly Speicher) in Salah al-Din Governorate.
The Security Media Cell, affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, said that at eleven o’clock on Monday night (local time), “two explosions occurred at the Martyr Majid Al-Tamimi Air Base in Salah al-Din Governorate.”
The Security Media Cell stated that the civil defense teams were able to control the fire that resulted from these two explosions, without causing any casualties.
The Iraqi army did not explain the cause of the two explosions, but it promised more details at a later time.
And Iraqi tweeters transmitted a video clip attributed to the effects of the two explosions, which CNN could not verify.

The explosion of the Speicher base comes shortly after the bombing of the Taji camp, after 3 Katyusha rockets were launched from the Sabaa al-Bour area in the northwest of the capital, Baghdad.
The attack on the Taji camp caused “significant damage” to one of the planes of the 15th Squadron of Army Aviation, while the second factory of guns and weapons was hit, “causing material damage”. While the third fell within the range of the second squadron of army aviation, “but it did not explode,” the Security Media Cell said earlier on Monday.
And the frequency of attacking camps that includes Iraqi and foreign forces, especially the American ones, has increased in recent times.
